Day 1: So Me!

Hello and Happy New Year!

My moniker is Soprano Musings and I am here for the music.

Started my love affair with a Walkman and some cassette tapes, and over the years that love has only grown.ย

Throughout it all – Music has always been there. Homeroom, homework, home wreck and heartache – the beat of good groove or a lullaby lyric to whatever I could get my hands was the ultimate source of comfort.

Now that I am an adult (on most days-lol) I would like to make a career out of it. Learning that the limits for that are only the ones that I set, so I’m looking towards the sky ๐Ÿ™‚

Along this journey I’ve discovered a few new love too. Writing! Sigh….

There have been many songs that I’ve penned over time that may have never seen the light of day if I didn’t find this new joy of mine (<<–See what I did there? hehe).

Writing Haiku has been awesome! Also, I like the challenge of writing about topics that I struggle with has been therapeutic.

Not to mention the confidence I’ve gained to finally share some of the stories in my head. ย Speaking of stories, I am currently working on my first book! Will be sharing more about that in later posts, so keep a look out ๐Ÿ™‚

To wrap this up, I am many things – friend, sister, and artist. And I am here to explore. Explore and learn more about myself as a person, a musician, a friend, and who knows what else.

Either way, I can not wait to find out!

Hope ya’ll will join me.

Thanks!

Seeing one 'acceptable' troupe for fat black women like me was more than enough to entice me to step up and take a shot! ______________________________________________________________________________________________ After spending hours on stock pile sites and not finding the images of women that she wanted to see on her blog or book covers led K. McCoy to make more of her photography hobby. Besides shooting portraits, street and travel photography, K. 1. Thank you! I’m getting ready to create a page chronicling my experience and thoughts leading up to publishing it. Is this your first one too?

      1. Yes. I started it a year ago, then picked it up again recently. Making good progress on a couple of childrens books too. I’m aiming for 7000 words a week which should be achievable without being soul destroying

      2. Nice! I started mine about a year ago and got discouraged when I tried to stick to the word count goal that I made. Now I have a new goal – finish working on the entire book BEFORE going back to check the word count. lol Hope to have it published by the end of the year ๐Ÿ™‚

      3. I need a first draft of my “Great American Novel”(I’m from UK) and 2 -3 kids books done by end of March because that’s when the day job gets super hectic for about 6 months. No pressure.

  1. Music is something you can always count on. Besides writing, it’s my life. Singing makes the world go away and makes me feel so alive. I enjoyed you post! Keep it up. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. What I love is being able to express myself. I didn’t sing or play my guitar for over 30 years. When I rediscovered my songs again, it healed me from terrible grief and even allowed me to write lyrics about my unhappy marriage (which led to a divorce). So music changed my life in so many ways! A song is a gift from above.

  2. I like your style. Seems to me, your on the right track. Your blog got my attention because, just the other day, I did a post on music for the daily prompt. Happy Blogging!
